At the Pike County District Attorney's Office, I specialize in bringing justice for the Commonwealth. I am dedicated to giving my all to the criminal cases brought to the DA's office. I work to make sure that the best that can be done, is done for Pike County in the criminal justice system.  

Ray Tonkin is serving in his fourth term as Pike County District Attorney. Prior to being elected in 2007 as District Attorney, Ray served as 1st Assistant District Attorney for four years and four years as an assistant district attorney. Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office in 1999, Ray served as a police officer in Milford Pennsylvania.

Ray is currently the Past President of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association and has served on the PDAA Capital Litigation Committee. He is the head of the PDAA's Training Institute.  

During his service in the District Attorney’s Office, Ray has handled numerous murder cases, including three capital case trials. Most recently, Ray tried widely publicized capital case involving an individual who assassinated a Pennsylvania State Trooper and gravely wounded another in a sniper attack.

In 2011 Ray was appointed to the Victim Services Advisory Committee of PCCD by Governor Tom Corbett and re-appointed in 2018 by Governor Tom Wolf.

Ray graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with honors and received a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Scranton.  

First as Assistant DA and then as DA for many years, I have a proven track record of success prosecuting many cases of all kinds. I have used that experience to help Pike County be a safer place. I have opened and maintained the Pike County Children's Advocacy Center through my office. I have opened the DUI center and centralized the courts in the county to Milford, PA streamlining the court process for the Magistrates, Police, Attorneys, and community members.
